Bike
12.5 Miles - 12.5mph
Well when I get off the wagon I get off hard. I've managed to gain 20#'s in the last few months and for the most part haven't done a lick of work. The good news is I'm not at square one but I'm pretty close. When I stopped riding I was averaging near 17mph on a 30 mile ride in the hills. Today you can see I did 12.5 average in all flats. I'm going to ride the bike this week and walk on my off nights. Next week I'll add back my running and try to get back to my 5k. I'm also planning on adding some core workouts with my body weight (squats, pushups, crunches) to help me in all the events. The big thing I'm going to be changing is my eating. I'm going to be adding more fruits and nuts and low GI foods. I'm using MyFitnessPal to track food intake and workouts which really helps me track intack. It's been so hot here in Central Texas this summer that I couldn't even make myself go outside. Excuses, Excuses, I know.

Bike
17 Miles - 13.5mph
3 - One minute spinups
Got back on the bike today and added a few spinups and increased my distance to 1/2 my previous long distance. Over the next three weeks I'm going to be adding 10% to each ride and working in spinup and powerup drills to these rides to get me back in shape for the Hill Country. I'm taking a beating from the guys here at work that want me riding full distances tomorrow. I'm going to play it safe and work my way up since I had so much trouble with my IT band earlier this year.

Bike 19 miles - 13.89mph Word of advice to everyone. Taking 3 months off is not a good idea. I'm only 3 rides into my return to fitness and I'm pretty sure I've lost at least 3/4 of cardio/strength etc. If I could do it over again I would have suffered through the heat. It was 94 during my ride and it didn't feel bad as long as I kept moving. -Eckroll

Still not running miles just walking. I'll be kicking up the pace on Monday. I've been keeping up with my diet and staying under my calorie goals and eating more fruits, vegetables, nuts and only had red meat once this week. I've been rewarded with a little over 7#s of loss. We'll see what next week holds for us. Tomorrow I'll be riding an easy 15 with a friend who is also getting back to the bike after a long time off. -Eckroll

Bike day 14 miles -14.88mph Getting faster. I'm starting to feel a little better on the bike. It'll be a few more weeks before I'm comfortable. The seat still feels like a 2x4. Hope that improves soon. -eckroll

Walk day 3.25 - 3mph I'll be starting my runs tomorrow. To be honest I consumed nearly 6000 calories yesterday. It might seem like a joke but I really did. I probably shouldn't have bought that margarita machine over the summer. -eckroll

Run day 5min warmup 3mph 8 x 1 min 6mph 39min 3mph My first runs in months. How things have changed. A lot of stuff on my body is jiggling. I've got a long way to go but if I keep my calorie intake to 1500 I should be back to where I was in about a month or so. I'm working to 1 goal and that is a 30 min 5k by the end of the year. I ran a 32 shortly before I stopped my program several months ago. I should be able to make it. -eckroll

Walk day 4.5 miles - 3mph I was supposed to bike yesterday but the heat was up about 105 so I decided against it so I took yesterday as a rest day. Today I stayed home with a sick kid and worked hard to stay under my calorie goal. I was doing great until I unknowingly consumed 600 calories worth of pistachios. Who would have known those things have that many calories. Anyway I tried to make it up on the treadmill. Tomorrow is my run day so I'll duplicate my Monday run. My weight has skyrocketed. This has happened to me a few times. I think it is a combination of water retention, muscle gain and my body adjusting to reduced calories. I think it thinks it needs to retain fat or something. Anyway, I'm not going to pay it much mind right now. Next week I'll be adding a morning walk for everyday plus my training ride or run in the evening this usually gets my metabolism rocking in short order. -Eckroll
